A couple months ago, I realized that I've been mispronouncing my own name. Especially when I'm introducing myself, I tend to put a glottal stop between the i and the n. This would explain why over the years several people have thought my name was Christita. The question is, how did I get started doing this? Do my parents do it too? And now that I've realized I'm saying my name incorrectly, should I make some sort of effort to stop? Or should I use an iron fist to force everyone else to pronounce my name my way? Problem is, I don't really like my name either way. Mom-sub-S doesn't like her name, either. She tells the baristas at Starbucks that her name is Alison.
Long live Diaryland!
